How to Design Custom Muay Thai Shorts

14 September 2026 · 5 min read

Designing your own Muay Thai shorts is easier than most fighters expect. The trick is to make a few decisions in the right order, so your mockup comes back looking like the pair you pictured.

1. Start with two colours, not five

Almost every shorts design that reads well from across the ring is built on one dominant colour and one accent. The accent carries your waistband, trim and lettering.

Once those two are locked in, extra colours can be added for a logo or a pattern without the design turning muddy.

2. Decide what goes on the waistband

The waistband is the most readable part of the shorts. It is usually where a gym name, a fighter's name or a nickname sits.

Keep it short. Names of around eight to twelve characters stay bold and legible; long phrases shrink and lose impact.

3. Place your logo where it will be seen

Logos are normally placed on the leg panel, the waistband or the rear. If your gym logo has fine lines or small text, simplify it first — a clean version of a logo always reproduces better than a detailed one.

  • Send the highest-quality logo file you have
  • Note which colours must stay exact
  • Say if you want the logo on one leg or both

4. Think about Thai script and lettering style

Traditional Muay Thai shorts use Thai script across the leg. Modern team shorts often use block Latin lettering instead. Both work — decide early, because the lettering style shapes the whole layout.

5. Ask for a mockup before you commit

A mockup shows your colours, logo and text in place before anything is produced. It is the fastest way to catch a logo that is too small or a colour pairing that does not work.

Send your idea over WhatsApp with any reference photos, and ask for changes until it looks right.
